Stop the Patchwork Approach to Arts Education

The other day I heard a school district administrator say how they would use a $10,000 grant for arts education. Their idea left me feeling depressed and frustrated. Let’s just say that it was the same as deciding to buy “The Complete Works of Shakespeare” when none of the students know how to read and no teacher is qualified to teach reading.
