Fullerton School District Wins USDOE Arts Education Grant

Fullerton School District is one of 33 awardees nationwide of the US Department of Education Arts Ed Model Development & Dissemination Grants (one of 6 California recipients) out of 200 applicants.

The stated purpose of these grants is:  

The program supports the enhancement, expansion, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that demonstrate effectiveness in:

  • Integrating into and strengthening arts in the core elementary and middle school curricula;
  • Strengthening arts instruction in those grades; and
  • Improving students’ academic performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts.

Pat Wayne is Director of Programs and Education for Arts Orange County, the county-wide arts council. She is also a parent in the Saddleback School District and past PTA President. The arts transformed her life in the second grade and she went on to major in theater design and earn a Master's in Arts Administration.
