Famed scholar E.D. Hirsch weighs in on Ravitch book

E. D. Hirsch, America’s champion of “cultural literacy”, is a longtime friend and colleague of Diane Ravitch.  In his incisive review of her new book, The Death and Life of the Great American School System, Hirsch calls her “without rival as a historian of modern American schooling.”

But while he praises most of what she has written in her book, he does single out a few areas of disagreement with her prescriptions for the future.
