Just as advocates debate over the most effective message to promote public funding for the arts (art for art’s sake vs. economic impact of the arts), arts education advocates are currently engaged in a battle over messaging–some believe it’s more effective to argue that the arts are the motivational tool to keep kids in school while others feel that the benefit of arts instruction for all students is the better argument.
